We are pleased to inform you that the UC San Diego Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) is now accepting applications for our 2022 NSF-sponsored "Advanced Materials Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)" program. Please circulate this announcement to interested students at your institution.
Our site will provide undergraduate students in science and engineering disciplines with an 8-week in-person program (June 21- August 12, 2022; note, participants may extend their paid research lab experience to up to 10 weeks), consisting of rigorous training and inclusive mentoring in cutting-edge materials science research bridging experiment and theory, along with academic enrichment activities that include research seminars, professional development workshops, industrial field trips, and more. Participants will also be invited to present at UC San Diego's Summer Undergraduate Research Conference in August of 2022. The application portal will close February 18, 2022. We welcome applications from students with a diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences, including women, persons excluded because of race or ethnicity, veterans, and persons with disabilities. To learn more about our MRSEC research areas and program application details, please visit https://mrsec.ucsd.edu/reu/. PathwaysToScience.org has a searchable database of 600+ summer research programs in all STEM disciplines. These are all fully funded opportunities including programs sponsored by NSF, NASA, NIH, etc. We also have a selection of resources to help you strengthen your applications.
The mission of the Institute for Broadening Participation (IBP) is to increase diversity in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) workforce. We design and implement strategies to increase access to STEM education, funding, and careers, with special emphasis on reaching and supporting individuals from underserved communities and underrepresented groups, including underrepresented minorities, women, persons with disabilities, first generation college students, and students from underserved communities. More info for undergrads here. More info for graduates here. More info for postdoc positions here. Each summer TUM invites excellent students from select North American universities and the Imperial College London to spend an approx. 9-week long research stay at TUM. Participating students gain valuable insights into the research work at Germany’s top-ranked technical university and enhance their technical and methodological qualifications.
TUM PREP will start on July 4, 2022 and will end on September 2, 2022. For TUM PREP 2022, students can choose between a large variety of about 50 interesting research projects at our various university chairs, so that each student will find the perfect fit. Via the online TUM PREP Project Database it is easy to browse the different projects. Students can search for one of the TUM departments / Schools, but also for keywords like the academic fields the respective project supervisors are looking for. This encourages students to also choose projects in a different field/ department / School than their study focus at the home university. Applications for TUM PREP 2022 Students will find the link to the online platform on the TUM PREP Website. All students must have uploaded their documents online and submit their application latest by Sunday, November 21, 2021. Professors should send the students’ recommendation letters by this deadline. Students will be informed about their admission to the program between mid-December 2021 and end of January 2022 and should check their e-mails (also spam folders) regularly.
